Today’s odd movie choice is Huckabees.
Normally I’ve got music on as background noise, but on occassion I’ll put the tv on and then ignore it. It’s just noise. White noise. Comforting noise.
Today I had it on IFC, as it turns out. I Heart Huckabee’s was on. Kind of watching it out of the corner of my eye. Dustin Hoffman, Lily Tomlin, a bunch of other people.
Weird movie, especially when you’re only kind of watching it. So I have no real idea what the hell is going on. One minute Lily Tomlin is chasing some guy around to his office, following him everywhere, the next minute some guy is dipping a woman’s face into a mud puddle, then they’re having sex on a log in the forest.
I don’t understand it, but then again I very rarely understand anything.
Flipping through the channels for some appropriate background noise, I came across someting on HBO called “Right America: Feeling Wronged” and boy howdy, we’re a fine bunch of people I’ll tell ya.
The documentary (so far) consists of interviews with people, apparently before the election, who are rabidly anti Obama. The interviews so far have been with some good old boys at a gas station, most of them were convinced that Obama is a Muslim, a few have said that he was involved in 9/11. They’ve more or less all said that Obama was going to remove the flags from places, that the drop in the market prior to the elections were Obama’s fault, etc…etc…etc…
My political stance notwithstanding, this is very scary. Scary in an “omigod” sort of way in that the next election may or may not result in Republicans gaining more seats in Congress. I’m afraid that they’ll pander to the extreme right wing and then we’re in trouble.
Serious trouble.
This is perhaps the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen. Even more disturbing than Bango The Clown does Dallas porn. And that was awfully distrubing.
Larry Carlson makes movies. Of a sort. Really they’re acid trips visualized and shared with the world. Enjoy here. Dude.
Seriously. Watch these special highlights from what looks to be THE MOST ACTION PACKED MOVIE EVER. Karate fights galore, woman fighting, scalping, big muscle guys with the required long blond hair(who, no doubt, are the finest actors in the history of acting)…what more could you ask for. I don’t know about you but by gawd I have to see this. Now. It’s 6:15 a.m. but I’m totally sure someone in Kansas City is showing this right now. Who’s with me? Let’s go!
