Some nice television for the morning

10 Mar

Flipping through the channels for some appropriate background noise, I came across someting on HBO called “Right America: Feeling Wronged” and boy howdy, we’re a fine bunch of people I’ll tell ya.

The documentary (so far) consists of interviews with people, apparently before the election, who are rabidly anti Obama.  The interviews so far have been with some good old boys at a gas station, most of them were convinced that Obama is a Muslim, a few have said that he was involved in 9/11.  They’ve  more or less all said that Obama was going to remove the flags from places, that the drop in the market prior to the elections were Obama’s fault, etc…etc…etc…

My political stance notwithstanding,  this is very scary.  Scary in an “omigod” sort of way in that the next election may or may not result in Republicans gaining more seats in Congress.  I’m afraid that they’ll pander to the extreme right wing and then we’re in trouble.

Serious trouble.

This is perhaps the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen.  Even more disturbing than Bango The Clown does Dallas porn.  And that was awfully distrubing.

Dear Texas…f*ck you.

texas_sucks_tshirt-p235592937439543307ybm3_400I used to live in Texas and when I moved to Kansas City I was still quite proud of being raised in Houston.  I used to fly the Texas flag on a flagpole outside our house every chance I got.  I didn’t salute it or anything, cause that would be, you know…stupid or something.  But yeah, I was one of those Texans who believed that you never really left Texas, you just were somewhere else temporarily until your mind was right again and you could return home.

That being said, Texas sucks.  Seriously, Sucks.

It’s bad enough that the Governor of Texas is spouting gibberish about leaving the union because he’s all mad at Obama.  His guy didn’t get elected so he’s not playing anymore.  Cry me a f’ing river.

There are lots of other reasons why Texas sucks but the latest is that the cops can now draw blood from people that they stop, for just about any reason.

The way it stands now, a person involved in an accident will automatically have his or her blood drawn if they’re involved in an accident where there’s a death or serious bodily injury.  However, Senate Bill 328, which passed in the last Texas legislative session, means that anyone involved in a crash, whether they’re suspected of drunk driving or not and where there’s bodily injury, severe or not, or has a child in their car, or previous D.W.I. convictions, will have blood drawn automatically within a matter of minutes.

I’m sorry, but excuse me?  You, Officer Littledick are going to draw blood from me because the lady on the cellphone in front of me and I had a fender bender at the stop light?  Um…no.  Thank you very much.

Seriously, what happened to presumed innocent?  Where in the hell do these brainless twits who decide that they’re doing this for the “public safety” think they live?

I’m sure that the god fearing “christians” who live in and run Missouri have just pissed themselves at the thought of this.  And the fine, upstanding citizens of Missouri will allow this shite to happen because “won’t someoone think of the children” or “it’s for the best”.

It’s the erosion of civil rights like the right to be presumed innocent that causes me to become scared and angry.  Our citizenry doesn’t a.) have the balls to do anything about it.  We have to rely on people like the A.C.L.U. to stand up for us because we have no spine and b.) couldn’t be bothered to care.  We as a people really, really don’t care.  As long as it’s not happening to us, then it really doesn’t matter.

We get what we deserve people.  We get what we deserve.

On further review the Supreme Court has apparently already decided that this is legal.

Texas still sucks.  Not my friends, but you know…the state government…

That George…he’s soooooo wacky….

charlton heston moses twnOkay I said wasn’t going to post anything politicial because I don’t really care, and I don’t.  This is posted not as a diatribe against any presidents either sitting or otherwise.  It is however interesting in a very scary and disturbing way.  I’m scared and disturbed from having read it, so I can attest to the last statement.

I’m speaking of an interview that Jacques Shirac gave to a French language Swiss newspaper in which he states that Bush indicated that “Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East…. The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled…. This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people’s enemies before a New Age begins.”

Wow.  Just wow.

Read the entire article for yourself here.  Call me wacko but…well…just don’t call me.  I’m going to be in my bomb shelter learing to speak in tongues.

We don’t need no politicians….

(as a side note, I’ve had several emails and comments that “We need to fight…you know…revolution type shit” and come on man, you can’t give up…”  Yes I.  I just did.  Now everyone pray and let’s see how Jesus runs the country.)

I That’s it.  I’m done.  Fed up.  Finished.  Kaput.

Back during the election and over the past say 10-15 years, I became more involved politically.  I began to care more about our country and our future.  I joined varoius and sundry groups, all very left leaning.  I became involved in elections, cared about the candidates (I mean who they were,  not cared about in a way that would cause me to send them flowers or a nice chianti) and generally became more aware.

Several times during the election and over the past year I’ve appeared on the radio as the leftist voice.  The voice of the left, whatever…You know the hippie guy in a room full of bankers and right wing wackos who lack the ability to think things through.  And that was okay.  It was a great time and gave me a chance to participate in and lend a voice to the electoral process in a way that most people don’t get a chance to.

But….in recent days, weeks, months…whatever…I’ve come to realize that it just doesn’t matter.  It really, really doesn’t matter.  We are screwed

I voted for Obama because I bought the “change” line that he was spouting.  I fell for it.  I actually thought that after the last few years of horrible, horrible leadership that the change might help America become a better place.  Not just for me, but for my kids, their kids, the neighbors kids and that weird guy down the street who doesn’t come out of his house much.  Yeah, even for him.

But after seeing how the nation has reacted to the election of our new president and the way that much of the country is acting like a spoiled rotten kid who didn’t get their way, it makes me sick.  It makes me sick to see right wing crazies ruining town hall meetings by spouting gibberish and yelling at and over the speakers.  Sure I believe in freedome of speech, so if you’re going to throw that argument at me I say you can eat it.  Of course you have the right to speak your mind.  But for god sake you stupid ass people, have some commmon decency.  Have the strength and courage of your convictions to engage in discourse and not just spout your slimy rhetoric over the speaker.  Have your gay ass tea parties or whatever the hell you’re calling it.  But I wonder, where were you when Bush and his gang of thugs were taking away our freedoms and rights?  Where were you when the patriot act was being ramrodded down our throats?

My questions are purely rhetorical.  I don’t give a crap where you were.  I don’t care what you think.  I don’t care how much you hate obama, or how much your taxes have gone up or really I just don’t care to listen to you at all.  Shut your mouth and get off of my damn lawn.  pol

Dems…are you there?

right wing blogs don’t think so….

THEY think you are an illusion.

Really.

Go look at any of the right-wing pools-of-cess — Little Green Blueballs… Redstate Of Denial… the Free-Of-Any-Need-To-Hide-Our-Unmitigated-Hatred-Of-Non-White-Non-Heterosexual-Non-Christians Republic — and you’ll see the real “last gasps” of the insurgency…

Debate Scoring

26 Sep

A half hour into it, I’ve got Obama ahead by two touchdowns. McCain seems to rally every now and again, but Obama plays good defense. 8:49

mccain came back towards the end. i still say obama by a field goal.

Sarah Palin on CBS

Seriously? This is who the republicans want for their vice president?  Really?  At the very least doesn’t it show bad judgement on McCain’s part to pick her?  Wow.

Local Family Bailout

23 Sep

With talk of bailing out the financial industry to the tune of $700 million dollars using taxpayer money, I’d like to put my request in for about $56,000.

You see I have some student loans that I have to repay.  It’s important that we (my family) stay in business so that we don’t cause local panic and a run on the refrigerator and beer cooler.  We have to protect the integrity of the pocketbook.

The only real way to protect this integrity is for the government to either forgive or buy and repay the loans themeselves.  When asked, a member of my family who was assured anonymity, responded with “hell yes or maybe you could just get a better job”.

According to local family sources, the outlook for the student loan buyout is “not so great” at this time.

Here in Kansas City some people like to jabber about the mayor bringing his wife to work.  Hey, big deal.  As long as the stop lights work, big damn deal.  It’s time that we stop worrying about petty garbage like that and spending time and energy blathering about it on our self important blogs and focus.  Sure, people want to hear about the drinks you had last night or the city council meeting or whatever kind of shite we generally blog about.  But not now people.  Not now.

We are in the process of losing our powers as a people to have those we elect govern for us.  To wit:  The bill that your president is trying to ramrod through that provides bailouts also indicates that the government now has to answer to no one, can do what they want, when they want and if you or your congress person doesn’t like it.  To damn bad.  Think I’m kidding?

Adam Davidson of NPR blogs that the bill that is being shoved down our non caring throats contains the following provision:

Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.

So yeah, fret all you want about the stupid ass mayor and his stupid ass wife, but in the overall scheme of things, it means shite.  More importantly, we need to let our elected representatives know that we are not for this and that we love our country and wish to keep it.

I personally think that you are all to damn lazy and non caring to do anything about it.  Prove me wrong.
