Great video, great song and starring domokun. What more could you ask for?

Or really any politician
“When one watches some tired hack on the platform mechanically repeating the familiar phrases — bestial atrocities, iron heel, bloodstained tyranny, free peoples of the world, stand shoulder to shoulder — one often has a curious feeling that one is not watching a live human being but some kind of dummy: a feeling which suddenly becomes stronger at moments when the light catches the speaker’s spectacles and turns them into blank discs which seem to have no eyes behind them. And this is not altogether fanciful. A speaker who uses that kind of phraseology has gone some distance toward turning himself into a machine. The appropriate noises are coming out of his larynx, but his brain is not involved as it would be if he were choosing his words for himself. If the speech he is making is one that he is accustomed to make over and over again, he may be almost unconscious of what he is saying, as one is when one utters the responses in church. And this reduced state of consciousness, if not indispensable, is at any rate favorable to political conformity.”
–George Orwell, “Politics and the English Language,” 1946
WOXY went silent today. Again.
I am sad. Again.
Music is important to me and good music is even more important. I strongly feel that WOXY has, over the years, provided the best resource for good music on air or on-line.
I forget exactly how I came to find WOXY, looking for something on line I’m sure. Years ago. I became hooked and when I could hook the stereo up to the computer and listen in the house and not just on the laptop, I was king. At least of my wee duchy.
When WOXY went off the air terrestrial, I was listening on-line. I recorded it. I’ve still go those discs somewhere. It was a seminal moment to me. I felt like I’d lost a major portion of my life, something that I relied upon for comfort, for pleasure, for news, for reassurance that things were okay. Everything was cool.
Then they went off and I searched for something, found a few alternatives but nothing stuck.
Then they came back. By god WOXY was back on the air and all was right with the world and the world has continued to be right.
Then today, they go off the air again. Lack of funding apparently.
Of late, I’ve not been so involved with WOXY but it’s always been my anchor. My safety net. We got rid of satellite because with the iPhone app for WOXY, we just didn’t need satellite. We had WOXY whenever we needed it. There was nothing cooler to me than driving down the road, in Kansas City, mind you and digging radio from Ohio or Austin of late and knowing all was right with the world. I might stray a bit but I always came back.
Best of luck to all involved with WOXY and thank you.
80′s hepsters The Psychedelic Furs have announced a tour this summer. We saw them a few years ago with someone (I forget who it was) and honestly, I wasn’t that impressed. I was just whelmed, neither under or over. Just whelmed.
They’ll be in Kansas City on June 14. I may or may not be there.

The best Furs song. Ever.

I’m sorry that I didn’t get to come see you when you were here. I know that you were dieing to see me, but hey, I got busy or something. We’ll catch up next time you’re in town. Promise.

Letter From An Occupant – New Pornographers. Wonderful song. Enjoy.
Remember when you were a teenager and that one time at that party you had too much Mickey’s and then there was that blond who was a little dangerous? Remember that? No? Me neither.
I do however remember The Runaways. If you’re of a certain age, which I certainly am. Totally a certain age, then you dug them. Generally right there with Foghat, Black Sabbath and ZZ Top.
Trailer is cool, I hope the movie works.
