The truth

As one who regularly looks for side jobs to supplement my meager income, dealing with problem clients is an everyday issue. Not to say that any of my current clients are troublesome, but I have had experiences from those who are former clients or wanted me to do some work for them, that indicate many don’t think what I do is worth anything or is worth what it should be.
“Hey you do web sites. How complicated could it be? Hell my nephew has photoshop, I’m sure he could do what you do and he’d charge me much, much less.” I have actually been told this. Total word for word.
I do what I do because I enjoy it. I often offer people pricing that is waaaaaaay below market value anyway, because a.) I understand that times are tough and maybe you don’t have a ton of money to spend and b.) I welcome your business and hope that in the future we can do more business, just not as cheaply.
It’s the way of the world. I get it. What I don’t get is how people tend to try to screw the small business person. This is our job. We don’t want to give stuff to you because we like the way you dress or we think your jokes are funny. Maybe they are. Maybe you are a snappy dresser. But seriously, I’m trying to make a little money here. Just a little. That’s all I ask. Watch the video below. It sums up the current vendor/client relationship perfectly.br>
